Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) seeks to enhance access to innovations that help agricultural producers grow more food while improving biodiversity, energy efficiency, and water efficiency along the food value chain. Through the scaling of these innovations, WE4F also aims to improve gender integration, environmental sustainability/biodiversity, and poverty reduction.
WE4F’s USAID Secretariat Unit is seeking External Surveyors to provide monitoring and evaluation support by conducting in-country field research and data collection with WE4F innovators. Those hired will work with innovators based in the Middle East and North Africa Regional Innovation Hub (MENA RIH) and the South and Southeast Asia Regional Innovation Hub (S/SEA RIH).
About the positions
Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) is a Grand Challenge with hubs located in West Africa, East Africa, Middle East and North Africa, and South and Southeast Asia. Right now, WE4F is recruiting recent or current graduate students with background in the water-energy-agriculture nexus and/or monitoring & evaluation to serve as External Surveyors in the MENA and SSEA regions.
As an External Surveyor, you will be in the field collecting and conducting research to support WE4F monitoring and evaluation for 4-6 weeks during spring, summer or autumn season 2021. Exact dates will depend on the farming cycles and innovator ability.
Who can apply?
Graduate students with a background in water, energy, agriculture, technology innovation, quantitative studies, international business, and/or development economics.
Candidates who are female and local to the regions are highly preferred, just as well as candidates who have at least a working proficiency in a language relevant in the regions (French, Hindi, Arabic, Bengali, Thai, Malay, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Lao, Indonesian, Filipino, Tamil, Sinhala, Burmese or Nepali).
Compensation
The stipend provided to External Surveyors totals $5000 which will be disbursed following the completion of certain deliverables. If the External Surveyors expenses go above the total $5,000 issued, WE4F will reimburse up to an additional $2,500.
