Nexus Regional Dialogue Southern Africa // WEF Nexus Dialogues held in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Madagascar and the Seychelles
Four Nexus Dialogues have successfully been organised under the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) WEF Nexus Regional Dialogue Project called "Fostering Water, Energy, and Food Security Nexus Dialogue and Multi-Sector Investment in the SADC Region: Phase II", which is being funded by the European Union and is implemented by Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) on behalf of SADC. The dialogues are designed to help regional and national stakeholders to develop concrete policy recommendations and action plans for future investments, particularly for multi-sector infrastructure and related capacity development.
DRC WEF Nexus Dialogue
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held a national WEF Nexus dialogue on the 3rd of March 202. The dialogue was held at the Ministry of Planning building in Kinshasa and was attended by 46 participants. They all constituted stakeholders representing Government Departments, DRC CWP, NGOs, ICU, CSOs & Partners. The National Action Committee for Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (CNAEHA), who took the lead in planning the dialogue together with the Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries and livestock, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Hydraulics and Electricity and Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.
Tanzania WEF Nexus Dialogue
The Tanzania WEF Nexus Dialogue was held on 8 April 2022 at Ramada Hotel and Resort in Dar es Salaam. The event was officiated by the deputy Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture Prof. Siza Tumbo who narrated the importance of WEF Nexus approach to addressing some of the challenges the country is facing also said that the dialogue accord stakeholders an opportunity to discuss concrete solutions to challenges that the three sectors face and look at investment opportunities in these areas. Presentations from the WEF ministries identified potential interventions with nexus potential as well as discussed, the challenges faced in implementing them.
Madagascar WEF Nexus Dialogue
Madagascar held its first WEF Nexus dialogue on 5 May 2022, The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock ANOSY Meeting Room. It was attended by 17 physical participants and 35 virtual participants. These included the three Ministers, H.E Ravokatra Fidiniavo, Minister of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (MEAH), H.E Ramilison Harifidy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MinAE), H.E Andry Ramaroson Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons (MEH), and SADC Senior Programme Officer, Dr Patrice Kabeya. Other participants included representatives from Government Departments, GWPSA board member Ms Dina Ravaka Ramaromandray, media, UNICEF, academia & other Partners.

Seychelles WEF Nexus Dialogue
The Seychelles WEF Nexus Dialogue was held on 10 May 2022. The event was attended by 29 virtual participants including representatives from government ministries, SADC, GWPSA, private sector, and academia. The Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment (MACCE) convened the dialogue together with Seychelles Energy Commission.
