Call for Case Studies // African Regional Process of the World Water Forum 8

Five distinct processes are underway through which the scope, focus and content of regular and special events of the 8th World Water Forum, taking place in March 2018 in Brasilia, will be defined. The Africa Regional Process is now calling for submission of case studies. On of the fields of interest is the Nexus approach.

The six general themes are:
  • Climate
  • People
  • Development
  • Urban
  • Ecosystems
  • Finance
The three cross-cutting themes are:
  • Sharing
  • Capacity
  • Governance
The development theme will be used to address how coordination between the two sectors irrigation and hydropower can be used to achieve greater efficiency in water use through a Nexus approach. The agricultural sector is faced with the challenge of producing enough food with less water to feed a growing world population. To realise this calls for many changes in food and agricultural systems, including increasing energy uptake. Deadline for submission is 15 Dec 2017.
