The Nile Basin Development Forum is organised by the Nile Basin Initiative. This session is co-convened by the the Eastern Africa Power Pool (EAPP) and will address two leading questions: (1) What are the shared challenges and opportunities of Africa’s power pools? and; (2) How can they better align hydropower with new opportunities like variable renewables?

Forum Description

The virtual webinars of the 6th Nile Basin Development Forum, organised by the Nile Basin Initiative and partners, launched on the 9th of March and will continue until the 29th of April 2021. This year’s theme is “Rethinking regional investments in the Nile Basin : Water | Energy | Food | Environment | Climate Change”.

This session will address two leading questions: (1) What are the shared challenges and opportunities of Africa’s power pools? and; (2) How can they better align hydropower with new opportunities like variable renewables?
