Energy and water demands go hand in hand – By 2035, energy consumption will increase by 35%, which will increase water consumption by 85%. When there are risks on finite water resources, there are also risks on energy supplies. To quench the thirst of energy, we need to make energy water-smart.
This report of the EU Horizon 2020 project "MAGIC Nexus" offers a socio-ecological assessment of the EU agri-food system, specifically implications for progress towards Europe’s policy goals and the UN Agenda 2030, focused on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 (End Hunger). The report looks at the influence of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on European agriculture.// more

The Natural Resources Division of ECLAC, in collaboration with ILPES and GIZ, presented a methodological guide for the adoption of the WEF Nexus approach within the design of policies, plans and projects in the water, energy and food sectors to the Network of National Public Investment Systems (SNIP) of Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, case studies from LAC countries were presented as an example of the practical application of the guidance document.// more
