The Central Asia Nexus Dialogue Project // Fostering the Start of the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus Dialogue and Multi-Sector Investment (EC-NEXUS) in Ashgabat

On 15 November 2017, the first consultation within the frame of the NEXUS project in Turkmenistan was held the day after the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Executive Committee of International Fund for Saving Aral Sea (EC IFAS) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).

Participants of the meeting were deputy directors of departments, heads of departments and leading specialists from the following organizations: Scientific-Information Center of the Interstate Committee for Sustainable Development (SIC ICSD), Scientific-Information Center of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission (SIC ICWC), Executive Committee for International Fund for Saving Aral Sea (EC IFAS), Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Turkmenistan, State Committee of Turkmenistan for Environmental Protection and Land Resources, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Project Institute  «Turkmensuvylymtaslama», Academy of Science of Turkmenistan, Turkmen Agricultural University Named after S.A.Niyazov, Medzhlis of Turkmenistan and Hydromet.

The goal of the first consultation was to present the NEXUS project and its objectives, and to gather recommendations on potential partners in Turkmenistan as well as intergovernmental platforms where the project can work in order to identify intersectoral investment projects.
