About Stockholm World Water Week
World Water Week is the leading conference on global water issues, held every year since 1991. The Week attracts a diverse mix of participants from many professional backgrounds and every corner of the world.Together we develop solutions to the planet’s greatest water-related challenges, such as poverty, the climate crisis, and biodiversity loss.
About this session
Session will inspire decision makers to adopt innovative financing mechanisms in the water and sanitation sector, rethink investment origination and planning processes and enhance the enabling environment for the implementation of circular and sustainable investment projects that accelerate SDG6’s achievement while exploiting the potential of global trends in climate and impact investing.
Water scarcity is a growing concern in Latin America as it increasingly impacts LAC’s economic and social development potential. In a context of fiscal and financial restrictions, the importance of investment planning, incentives design, and understanding the benefits of a circular economy and other green projects is essential. From using wastewater as a valuable economic resource to embracing the role of ecosystems as critical infrastructure networks, these projects will promote economic activities and value chains. This session will discuss innovative ways of financing water investments, rethinking processes and analyzing the enabling environment needed for the implementation of “the next generation” of projects in LAC.
