Webinar // Co-designing WEFE nexus scenarios (Session 1)
The first GoNexus webinar took place on 22 October for an hour-long session focused on the co-construction of the WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems) nexus scenarios and strategies for engaging key stakeholders, with a particular focus on the Spanish Tagus-Segura and the Senegal River, two basins studied in the framework of the GoNexus project.
Agenda

Summary
For one hour, we’ll be exploring the methodological participative approach and key lessons learnt from developing and discussing scenarios that depict the potential future evolution of the WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems) nexus. The focus will be done on two river basins studied by GoNexus partners: the Tagus-Segura in Spain and the Senegal River basin.
Contrasting scenarios, which include long-term change assumptions (such as climate, socio-economic, and land-use changes) were developed using a bottom-up approach. This approach involved stakeholders (river basin managers, representatives of the energy, agriculture and fisheries sectors, ecosystem managers) in defining and discussing the scenarios before simulating their impacts using river basin models. The workshops engaged participants in a foresight exercise, encouraging them to identify potential nexus management actions to address both current and future nexus challenges.
The webinar will end with a Q&A session.
