Job Vacancy // Research Project Manager Water for Food Institute at University of Nebraska

The Robert B Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute (WFI) works collaboratively with the University of Nebraska faculty, administrators, and staff, along with external partners, both domestically and internationally. This position will work directly with the Director of Research and collaborate with other directors and staff of the WFI, in the execution of research and technical transfer projects, preparation of reports and communication efforts. Deadline is 1 Feb 2017.

The ideal candidate will possess program and project management skills with the research knowledge and aptitude to ensure projects are progressing on established timelines and protocols. Traveling nationally and internationally will be expected to coordinate and evaluate progress of ongoing research projects with partners. The position will administer the Visiting Scholars program of the WFI by ensuring visa applications are processed, along with acclimating the scholars to the University system. Lends expertise in the development of research and technical proposals to obtain external funding.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Science or Engineering with a water emphasis and capacity to work with and coordinate across disciplines, plus 3 years of demonstrated project coordination experience in the public or private sector required. Advanced degree in Science or Engineering beyond Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of required experience. Must have experience with project management and/or supervisory experience. Technical skills and working knowledge in relevant science necessary. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills essential. Excellent technical, analytical, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills required. Must have ability to multi-task and work independently. Record-keeping skills and proficiency with computer software necessary.
