Wednesday 17:45-18:45 Room K16/17 Changes in quantity of river runoff coupled with increased reservoir evaporation may limit hydropower generation in the region, especially in upstream Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. These include impacts upon system operation, financial effects and impacts on other energy sectors. In its turn, shortages of energy cause irregular pumping of water and lead to the poor quality of drinking water in many urban and rural areas of the region. Irregular water pumping leads to stagnation of water in reservoirs, causing deterioration of its quality.Programme
