Following on the 2012 Multi-stakeholder forum of the EU Water Initiative (EUWI), which presented the key achievements in its 10 years of existence, the 2013 session will focus on the development of a "nexus approach".

Wednesday 4 Sep 2013, 14:00-17:30 Room K11

Addressing the water-energy-food nexus, with a particular attention on cooperation in transboundary waters, is consistent with the new orientations of the EU development policy. In order to build on the capacity of EUWI to constitute an appropriate framework to address new challenges and catalyse new opportunities, each component will present their views and identify opportunities to develop activities based on a "nexus approach", using the multi-stakeholder and interactive dialogue to discuss this development. EUWI is an international political initiative using a partnership approach, bringing together national governments, donors, the industry, NGOs and other water actors. The EUWI was launched at the 2002 World Summit for Sustainable Development and is working to reinforce political commitment to water and sanitation, and to create a strong and integrated framework for EU action. It comprises 4 regional components: Africa, Eastern Europe Caucasus & Central Asia (EECCA), Latin America and the Mediterranean, and thematic components of Research and Finance.
