About this event

The defining human challenge of the 21st Century is likely to be that of feeding an estimated global population of 9 – 10 billion, an increase of around 2.5 billion on 2016, while simultaneously tackling the impacts of climate change in a world characterised by competition for depleting resources of water, energy and land. Given that the global food system accounts for about 70% of human water use, and is estimated to utilise around 30% of energy supply, the food-water-energy nexus is a critical relationship to understand in meeting this challenge sustainably. In his lecture, Dr. Tim Fox will focus on the energy challenge of the nexus.

This event is supported by the IMechE Food and Drink Engineering Committee.
