Start date and duration

April 2017 for 3 years.

Overview

The evaluation of public policy is particularly challenging in complex settings such as across the Energy-Environment-Food nexus. This social science studentship will consider how nexus policy evaluation is accessed, used and informed by external stakeholders and wider publics. It will build on previous research reflecting on the nature of expertise, open policy making and evidence-based policy to consider: whose expertise counts within policy evaluation; how is stakeholder involvement managed and what methodological approaches are adopted; to what extent does it enhance the quality of the policy evaluation undertaken; and what happens when stakeholders use evaluations to challenge government. Please see the full project description.
