A virtual workshop
On the 28th September 2022, as part of a collaborative initiative between GIZ and WIN, a virtual workshop was held on the 28th of September entitled “Water, Energy, Food, Ecoystems (WEFE) Nexus bankability: Integrity readiness to improve cross-sector performance and attract investment”. The workshop was conducted within the framework of the initiative "Identifying Integrity Risks and Developing Integrity Guidelines on the WEFE Nexus".
Aim of the workshop
The workshop aimed to introduce and facilitate a discussion around integrity requirements for successful fund mobilization and identify integrity enablers and barriers within WEFE Nexus Dialogues and WEFE Nexus projects. A total of 23 participants attended, reflecting a range of public sector actors, civil society, funders, and implementers within the WEFE Nexus. The workshop consisted of a series of presentations introducing the concepts of the WEFE Nexus and integrity, as well as integrated resources management projects pertaining to three of the five Nexus regional dialogues from the Nexus Regional Dialogues Programme. In order to provide a perspective from the funding side, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) presented its funding and integrity criteria. Finally, in three separate working sessions, participants identified important elements to strengthen integrity within WEFE Nexus project design and implementation.
For the GCF pursuing the Nexus approach enables integrated projects that can address both mitigation and adaptation issues. The GCF already highlights cross-sectoral interlinkages in its sector strategies.
