About the UNECE Task Force
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is a regional UN body that promotes economic cooperation and sustainable development.
The Task Force on the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems Nexus supports countries in advancing integrated management of water, energy, food and ecosystems. Operating under the framework of the Water Convention, the Task Force promotes cross-sectoral dialogue, policy coherence and practical tools to assess trade-offs and synergies within the Nexus.
Through regional assessments, guidance materials and capacity-building activities, it helps governments and stakeholders translate the Nexus approach into coordinated policies and sustainable investments.
Information
The meeting will be organized in the context of the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum (29 September – 2 October 2026), which is organized by the “One Water” (OW) Committee Italy in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the Mediterranean Water Institute of Marseille (IME) and other partners.
Meeting Focus
The meeting will focus on the development and implementation of regional nexus strategies in transboundary contexts, water resilience (infrastructure and ecosystems), the nexus in the 2026 UN Water Conference, and future work of the Task Force in the upcoming Programme of Work of the Water Convention (2028-2030). Moreover, it will provide an exchange of experience between countries and basins from the Mediterranean and other regions of the world.
