Workshop // Urban Water-Energy-Food (W-E-F) Nexus, Chennai, India

The aim of the workshop is to discuss potential case study cities in Germany and India for planned ​W-E-F Nexus pilot projects, to co-author a funding proposal for this, and to co-author a WEF Nexus special issue in a peer-reviewed journal. The key element of these planned​ pilot projects is decentralised urban water reclamation and reuse for bio-energy production and urban agriculture irrigation.

Aims of the 1st Urban W-E-F Nexus Workshop

​Prof. Jörg E. Drewes and Dr. Daphne Gondhalekar, as the Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, are conducting a research project on the Urban Water-Energy-Food (W-E-F) Nexus. A WEF Nexus workshop will be held at IIT Madras, in Chennai, India ​from 15th to 17th March, 2017. The workshop is being organised in collaboration with the Sustainable Water Future Programme of Future Earth and the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS) at IIT Madras, and co-funded by DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service.
