The Great Lakes Energy-Water Nexus Initiative (GLEW) presents new information about vulnerable watersheds, and how these watersheds might be impacted by alterations in future water use as a result of a changing regional energy portfolio. Water use policy and electric facility siting regulations also will be discussed within the framework of five future power scenarios. The webinar will showcase a new online, interactive mapping tool featuring state-by-state data on electric power plant location, production capacity, water use and water source. Participants will see how the tool can be used to view and overlay four unique aquatic resource vulnerability metrics at the HUC 8 watershed level, providing a quick yet detailed method of watershed assessment that previously has been unavailable in the basin.
