Nexus Dialogue in Central Asia // First Meeting of the Inter-Agency Working Group in Turkmenistan
The goal of the meeting: to discuss the opportunities, which are provided by intersectoral cooperation for the preparation of investment projects, and to launch an intersectoral mechanism for developing the project proposals in Turkmenistan for the project “Central Asia Nexus Dialogue: Fostering Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus Dialogue and Multi-Sector Investment”. The main objective of the Project is the development of a multi-sector enabling environment to facilitate sustainable and climate-resilient investments for increased water, energy, food security in Central Asia.
The tasks of the meeting are
- Informing of the Nexus initiative in Central Asia, the gist of the “interconnection approach” and its potential;
- Discussion of the possibilities for applying the intersectoral approach in the planning of national and sectoral investment programs;
- Coordination of the activity format of the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) in Turkmenistan.
The Meeting is held jointly with the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), with the financial support of the EU Project “Central Asia Nexus Dialogue: Fostering Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus Dialogue and Multi-Sector Investment” (the NEXUS Project).
The Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) has been created under the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea to support the Project implementation in Turkmenistan. It includes the representatives of the interested Ministries and Agencies, EC IFAS and ICSD Secretariat in Turkmenistan.
The participants of the meeting will be the representatives of the EC IFAS, governmental structures and academic community of Turkmenistan; public organizations and the EU representatives in Turkmenistan.
