The Amsterdam International Water Web (AIWW, since 2011) is a global water leaders’ community, bridging the gap between today’s challenges and future needs. Water is seen as an enabler to accelerate resilient and sustainable development. Amsterdam International Water Web will organise the sixth edition of Amsterdam International Water Week. Amsterdam International Water Week 2021 will be held both in-person and digital. The theme of Amsterdam International Water Week 2021 is ‘Blue-Green deals with Integrated Solutions’, along the three pillars of societal, technical and ecological aspects.

About the Event
During the Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW 2021) global leaders and experts from cities, industries, utilities and agri-food with (applied) scientists will come together to meet, mix and match around the AIWW main theme 2021: Blue green deals with integrated solutions. AIWW 2021 theme is aligned with global blue-green deals like European Union’s Green Deal programme, Green New Deal (GND), US environmental resolution, EU-China Summit 2020 resolutions on de-carbonization and green recovery, World Bank Green Bond programme and Blue economy programme. The main theme provides a push to accelerate the achievement of UN-SDG Global Agenda 2030 goals.
Amsterdam International Water Week 2021 will be a hybrid event with both online and in-person events, considering COVID-19 situations globally. This community-led event for strengthening and equipping the community with good practices and integrated solutions consists of 3 elements.
Underlying sub-themes concretize the agenda for AIWW 2021 focusing on three pillars for catalyzing change: social, technical and ecological.
Sub-themes
The sub-themes are based on the main theme AIWW 2021 ‘Blue green deals with integration solutions’ and the AIWW Horizon 2030 with a focus on SDG’s with special focus on 2 (Zero Hunger), 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation), 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) and 13 (Climate Action). The theme and sub-themes for AIWW 2021 recognize the inter-connectivity of water challenges and solutions with other sectors.
There are three sub-themes and 3 cross-cutting topics which are enablers for sustainable change.
