Webinar // Securing our Food for Tomorrow - In the Wake of a Changing Climate

In the final webinar of the series organized by The Head Foundation and NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions, panellists will explore the food dimension of the WEF Nexus to explain its challenges across the region and how it is interlinked with the other dimensions. It will also wrap up the series by emphasising the pertinence of the WEF nexus to address various complex issues in the region.

There is a significant disparity in food security across the Asia-Pacific region. Climate change and COVID-19 have exacerbated the region's food insecurity, with natural disasters, flooding, and lockdowns putting supply chains and food supplies at risk.

Join in in the wrapping up of this series with a panel of global experts to look at the pertinence of the WEF nexus in addressing various complex climate-related issues in our region.

About the panelists

Prof. David Lobell's research focuses on agriculture and food security, specifically on generating and using unique datasets to study rural areas throughout the world. He received a Macarthur Fellowship in 2013 and the Macelwane Medal from the American Geophysical Union in 2010. He served as lead author for the food chapter and core writing team member for the Summary for Policymakers of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report.

Prof. Harini Nagendra leads Azim Premji University's Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability. Over the past 25 years, she has been at the leading edge of research examining conservation in forests and cities of South Asia from the perspective of landscape ecology and social justice. She has published multiple books and over 150 research publications in Nature, Nature Sustainability, and Science.

Dr. Stéphane Hallegatte joined the World Bank in 2012 after 10 years of academic research. His research interests include the economics of natural disasters and risk management, climate change adaptation, urban policy and economics, climate change mitigation, and green growth. He was a lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report. and has published multiple articles and books.

About the moderator

Prof. Koh Lian Pin brings 16 years of international research experience in the field of sustainability and environmental science. In 2020, he returned to Singapore under the National Research Foundation’s Returning Singaporean Scientists scheme to join NUS. He is one of the most highly cited conservation scientists in Asia, a TED-Global speaker, Founding Director of ConservationDrones.org, and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. He is also a nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore.
