NEXUS Resource Platform // Germany launches NEXUS Resource Platform at 6th World Water Forum

The Bonn2011 Nexus Conference website has been transformed into a web-based Resource Platform on the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus and the Green Economy, and has been launched on 14 March at the 6th World Water Forum. The main objectives of the platform are to contribute to a better understanding of the interlinkages between water, energy and food security and to provide access to all kinds of Nexus-related information. Specific attention is also paid to interdependencies with climate change, population growth and sanitation. Germany would like to invite other organisations and initiatives to join and collaborate on this virtual platform, whose basic version shall be upgraded subsequently throughout the year 2012 and beyond. Contributions and comments from as well as collaboration with other Nexus-related initiatives will help build the platform into a reliable and powerful resource on the Nexus. Germany acknowledges that the nexus perspective is science and knowledge intensive and this platform aims to help filling related information and knowledge gaps. The basic version of the resource platform offers key Nexus documents from science and policy-making, data and research results, and illustrates the Nexus with many various case studies. The platform will furthermore provide a daily overview of Nexus-related media coverage and other Nexus news and events. In the short term, the platform will delineate the policy process towards Rio+20. In the medium term, it aims to become an important and powerful resource for international experts, practitioners and policy and decision-makers from all fields across the nexus.
