Webinar // Optimizing Desalination under Continental Drying Conditions through a WEFE Nexus Approach in the Mediterranean
This webinar explores how a WEFE Nexus approach can support sustainable desalination solutions in the Mediterranean under increasing aridity and water scarcity.
About the Event
The webinar explores how increasing aridity and water scarcity in the Mediterranean region are impacting water security, and how desalination can play a stronger role in future resource strategies. A central focus is the integrated WEFE Nexus approach, which connects water, energy, food, and ecosystem considerations to develop more sustainable and resilient solutions.
Participants will gain insights into regional experiences and strategies from Tunisia, Cyprus, and Morocco, as well as an overview of relevant policy frameworks such as the EU Water Resilience Strategy and the emerging Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Strategy. The session is aimed at researchers, policymakers, and practitioners interested in sustainable water and resource management in the Mediterranean region.
