Idea / Idée

Energy Alternatives Planning system (LEAP) and Water Evaluation and Planning system (WEAP) developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) are widely used modeling tools with a strong community of practice in the MENA region.

LEAP is a flexible platform for energy system and climate mitigation modeling and analysis, and WEAP is a tool for integrated water resources modeling and planning. Both systems emphasize usability, scalability, scenario assessment, and transparency. As the developer of LEAP and WEAP tools, SEI developed a toolkit and approaches for linking LEAP and WEAP models to conduct integrated analyses of energy and water systems.
