The Nexus Regional Dialogues aim at connecting and educating sectors, states and experts in the respective regions. They are implemented by different international organisations and in cooperation with regional partners.
In the MENA Region the Nexus Dialogue is realised in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS). The process has already led to the adoption of concrete Nexus policy recommendations by the LAS.
In Latin America and the Caribbean the Nexus dialogue is realised cooperation with UN CEPAL. Within the scope of the first workshops Nexus priorities for the region are being identified.
The overall objective of the SADC Regional Nexus Dialogue Project is to support the transformation required to meet increasing water, energy and food security demand in a context of climate change in the SADC Region through the development of a truly integrated nexus approach. The specific objective of the project is to create an enabling environment that will drive cross-sectoral engagement and implementation of nexus investment projects that contribute to enhancing water, food and energy security in SADC region. It is a strategic fit in the implementation of SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Action Plan (RSAP IV) and the Roadmap and Strategy for Industrialisation.
There is a growing awareness of the need to adopt a Nexus approach in Central Asia and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC), in cooperation with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), are implementing the Nexus Dialogue activities. Thus, CAREC and IUCN are aiming at strengthening the capacities in the inter-sectoral planning at national and regional level as well as mainstreaming the Nexus approach.
