The Central Asian Institute of Environmental Research (CAIER) has received confirmation from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the suitability of sedimentary deposits of the Tuyamuyun Hydroelectric Complex (THC) and materials made from them for construction purposes.

Laboratory experiments on sediment were conducted by CAIER on a voluntary basis within the framework of the transboundary Nexus demonstration project “Tuyamuyun Hydroelectric Complex” between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, implemented by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC). In 2021, the leadership of THC handed over 40 kg of sedoment from Urgench, Uzbekistan, which the CAIER processed using innovative technologies and received such building materials as burnt bricks, soil blocks, foam blocks. The final products have been tested by the competent authorities and have been found suitable for construction.
