Nexus News // Outcomes of the 3rd Executive Committee Meeting Nexus Dialogue Programme
The 3rd Executive Committee Meeting of the Nexus Dialogue Programme was held from the 05th to the 06th of June 2019 at GIZ premises in Bonn, Germany. The overall objective of the meeting was to analyze the results and lessons learnt of phase I (2016 – 2019) and to prepare for a successful implementation of phase II (2020 – 2022).
After two beautiful summer days, the 3rd Executive Committee Meeting of the Nexus Dialogue Programme closed in a highly motivated atmosphere, according to the motto “Aller ensemble – work together”. After fruitful discussions, the participants left the venue with concrete steps and activities to be taken within the forthcoming months in order to prepare for phase II of the Nexus Dialogue Programme.
While phase I focused on WEF Nexus advocacy and policy advice, phase II aims at implementing WEF Nexus projects on the ground in order to deliver tangible results and evidence of the benefits and impacts of the Nexus approach. Hence, financing instruments for Water-Energy-Food and Ecosystem projects will be assessed and analyzed.
During the first day of the meeting only Executive Committee members participated, including the donors of the programme EU DG DEVCO and BMZ, the implementing agencies GIZ, CAREC, IUCN and GWP-SA as well as the regional political partners EC IFAS and CEPAL. Unfortunately, representatives of the political partners LAS and SADC were not able to participate personally this year but could take part through skype and were represented by their partner organizations.
The second day opened up to other organizations and initiatives working on the WEF Nexus in order to discuss synergies and opportunities for future collaboration in phase II.
