Interview // Dominic Waughray: "It is a very timely conversation in a very timely conference"

Interview with Dominic Waughray, Senior Director and Head of Environmental Initiatives of the World Economic Forum (WEF)

Waughrey
In this video interview Mr. Waughray vividly describes the varied challenges in the water, energy and food security nexus. He emphasises conflicts of objectives related to solutions for energy bottlenecks in countries with dwindling water resources: Whether through increased cultivation of energy crops or through additional coal fired power plants, higher energy production can only be achieved at the expense of rising water consumption resulting in a lack of water for food production. Mr. Waughray considers the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference as a suitable forum for the development of policy recommendations to address these and other related challenges. #include:video:jwplayer:video/wef_waughray.flv //The video-interview was produced on the second meeting of the International Steering Committee (ISC) from 30 to 31 of March 2011 in Bonn. #p:similar/title = More about Dominic Waughray #include:show_streamlist_related:tags_en = "Waughray, Dominic" #p:similar/title = More Interviews #include:show_streamlist_related:tags_en = "interview"
