Yale Postdoc Opportunity // Urban Food-Water-Energy Nexus

The Urbanization and Global Change Lab at Yale has an opening for a one-year postdoc to work on a multi-institutional project on Urban Food-Water-Energy Nexus (FWEN).

Setolab

The postdoc will be responsible primarily for the development of a methodology to assess changes in urban FWEN and quantifying the food, water and energy tradeoffs in urban Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI). GBI is a strategic space consisting of land and/or water bodies which may link various types of ecosystems in an interconnected network in order to provide multiple social, economic, environmental, and ecological benefits.

Candidates with experience in either system dynamics modeling or urban metabolism using an energy and material flow analysis approach, as well as an understanding of the feedbacks between biophysical and economic systems are preferred. A Ph.D. degree is required at time of appointment. The postdoc must be in residence at Yale.

The project is a consortium of eight organizations including Fundação Getulio Vargas FGV/EAESP, the Stockholm Resilience Center, ICLEI and United Nations University. The postdoc is expected to collaborate and coordinate with partner organizations and take an active role in dissemination of project results.

A fall 2018 or spring 2019 start date is desired.

Application

Interested applicants should email Karen Seto (karen.seto@yale.edu) with "FWEN" in the subject line, a brief cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information of two references.
