WEF Nexus in Latin America // Innovative Communication Tools and Practices for fostering Multisectoral Cooperation and Learning
The GIZ- sponsored Environmental Management and Rural Development Network in Latin America and the Caribbean (GADER-ALC) organized a regional meeting on Digitalization from May 7th to May 9th. The 2019 Nexus Workstream - coordinated by Bolivia and Chile - was awarded EUR 5000 from an Innovation Fund to carry out knowledge cafés for a regional exchange on the WEF Nexus approach as well as for a regional Nexus Forum to be held in La Paz, Bolivia, in September this year.
Regional Exchange through Knowledge Cafés with Livestream via the Nexus Resource Platform
Jointly developed by the Latin America and Caribbean regional Nexus office in Chile and the Nexus program in Bolivia, the Workstream will foster an exchange among experts in water, energy, and food security with a vision towards the 2030 Agenda. Weekly knowledge cafes for the LAC region are planned for August and September 2019, with agendas covering specific Nexus topics such as public policies for inter-sectoral planning, institutional experiences regarding coordination mechanisms, and experiences regarding the management and governance models for multipurpose dams in Bolivia. This will bring together experts from five countries, with livestream participation via the Nexus Resource Platform (www.water-energy-food.org). These events will provide valuable insight into the WEF Nexus experience in the region, revealing lessons learned and best practices applicable to other Nexus projects worldwide.
The GADER-ALC Network
The GADER-ALC network is part of the GIZ Sectoral networks, which promote learning and cooperation in the region by creating new connections and stimulating innovation in the areas of environment, biodiversity, water, energy, agriculture, climate and cities. The regional network facilitates exchange through regional conferences, strategy meetings and task teams, thereby creating value added for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the European Union (DG-DEVCO, EU) and other trusted partner organizations.
