The past two months have witnessed a series of fruitful policy dialogue sessions engaging all key stakeholders. These policy rounds are part of the Nexus Regional Dialogue Programme activities in Egypt. The dialogues dedicated to discussing the challenges and gaps that needed to be overcome in order to adopt the Water-Energy -Food nexus approach, in addition to financial challenges as key barrier towards implementation and upscaling of the nexus farms in Egypt.
The event included further brainstorming based on the output from the previous rounds, using design thinking approach with main focus on empathy with farmers to solve their problems.
This series of events had a strong presence of European Commission EU, League of Arab States LAS, Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency RCREEE, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of International Cooperation, UNDP, UNIDO, Academia, Central Bank of Egypt and several key banking and insurance entities in Egypt.
The final product of the policy dialogue sessions is a policy proposal that can be used as a guide to strengthen the coordination of the three sectors (water, energy and food) towards development and upscaling of nexus farms in Egypt.
