SWWW 2018 Session // Hype or Groundbreaking: Has Securing Water for Food Delivered?

Securing Water For Food (SWFF) celebrates its 5th year anniversary since launching at the 2013 World Water Week. The program’s aim is to identify and accelerate innovations to produce more food using less water and make more water available for the food value chain while promoting gender equality and ultimately alleviating poverty.

This event is part of the Stockholm World Water Week 2018.

Five years since inception, SWFF has supported 40 innovations in over 30 countries. SWFF innovators have reached 3 million smallholder farmers and end users. For every $1,000 spent by the program, SWFF innovators have produced 140 tons of food, saved 1 million liters of water, and improved water management on 44 hectares of land. Through the program’s assistance, many SWFF innovators have become gender champions implementing strategies that promote the participation and leadership of women by actively looking for ways to design their projects in a gender inclusive way.

In this interactive session with a diverse panel consisting of SWFF innovators, beneficiaries, external evaluators, and partners, SWFF shares findings from 5 years of gathered data and lessons learned. Based on the SWFF treasure trove of findings, the panel will provide program design recommendations for the future followed by a 30 minute Q&A from the audience.
