Online Event // Nexus planning for water, food, energy, and environment security

The International Union for Conservation of Nature Asia (IUCN) is organising a webinar on WEF Nexus planning. The Nexus thinking (or “nexus”) refers to an integrated planning process that exploits the synergies between energy, water, food, and the environment to promote sustainable social and economic development while reducing the risks emerging from resource constraints and inter-sectoral conflict.

About

The countries sharing the GBM Basin fall into the category of ‘high to extremely high’ water-stressed areas. Unchanged, the current independent approaches to water, food energy, and the environment will lead to increased competition and conflict among the economic sectors and stakeholders, with dire consequences for communities and livelihoods.

The objective of this webinar will be to improve participants’ understanding of the nexus principles and approaches, through the sharing of best practices and case studies. The webinar will then facilitate discussions on spaces for CSOs to support nexus planning and its implementation in the GBM Basin.
