The Integrated Solutions for Water, Energy, and Land (ISWEL) project is organizing a practical and interactive webinar to highlight and share nexus integrated modelling tools and co-design knowledge relevant to stakeholders in large river basins. The event will highlight the best of the nexus tools and knowledge developed during the ISWEL project that proved most relevant and useful to Indus and Zambezi stakeholders, which can also be applied to other large river basins.

Background
The Integrated Solutions for Water, Energy, and Land project (ISWEL) is a ground-breaking study exploring sustainable solutions to jointly meet water, energy, and land demands at the global level. Led by a partnership between the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) the project zooms in on two large transboundary basins facing multiple development and environmental challenges: The Zambezi and the Indus.
From 2017-2020 the ISWEL project established partnerships with stakeholders in the Indus and Zambezi basins to develop an integrated assessment modelling tool that can be used to identify long term cost-effective solutions to meet water, energy and land development goals in an integrated manner. Alongside, a number of participatory tools have been developed, including scenario planning and nexus simulation tools, aimed at technical and non-technical audiences to build a common understanding of the sectorial challenges and interlinkages across the water, energy, and land sectors (WEL) in the basin, and gain a practical and hands-on experience on future scenarios and pathways.
Description and Agenda
This engaging and experiential webinar will highlight the best of the nexus tools and knowledge developed during the ISWEL project that proved most relevant and useful to Indus and Zambezi stakeholders, which can also be applied to other large river basins. In particular, this virtual meeting will share integrated modeling tools as well as methods for engaging stakeholders in the co-design of sustainability pathways. The use of these tools can be further utilized to tackle building regional climate resilience and national UN Sustainable Development Goal planning.
The virtual meeting is open to anyone interested in the topic of Water-Energy-Land Nexus. Participants do not require any prior knowledge about the project.
