The research group "Constructed Environment" of the ILS is looking for a co-worker at the location Dortmund in the third-party project "The FEW-meter - an integrative model to measure and improve urban agriculture, shifting it towards urban metabolism" from 01.10.2018.

The ILS Institute for Urban and Regional Development Research gGmbh is a non-university city research institute based in Dortmund/Germany that compares the dynamics and diversity of urban change internationally. The aim of our application-oriented basic research is to gain a better understanding of recent urbanization processes in order to develop interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary insights for a socially, ecologically and economically sustainable transformation and design of urban spaces on different spatial scale levels in an active dialogue with practice, politics and society.

The research group "Constructed Environment" of the ILS is looking for a co-worker at the location Dortmund in the third-party project "The FEW-meter - an integrative model to measure and improve urban agriculture, shifting it towards urban metabolism" from 01.10.2018.

The position has a scope of 10 hours per week and is initially limited to 31.12.2018. An extension is possible.

The project examines the interaction of food production, energy and water consumption (food-water-energy nexus) in the context of the growing global urban agriculture together with international ones
Project partners. The aim of the international comparison is to develop a comprehensive system that understands the contribution of existing forms of urban agriculture to the sustainable development of cities
can. The ILS-led subproject investigates forms of governance and frameworks that influence resource flows in relation to food, water and energy.

Task description

  • Data research, creation of graphics and tables, cooperation in data analysis
  • Literature research and maintenance of literature databases
  • Collaboration on publications (including English language publications)
  • Translation tasks (especially German / English)
  • Collaboration in the organization and execution of events

Requirements

  • Studied spatial planning, geography, possibly with BSc degree
  • Very good knowledge of English and safe handling of international literature
  • Very good knowledge of statistical programs (SPSS, Stata)
  • Very good knowledge of evaluations of qualitative data (MAXQDA)
  • Basic knowledge in GIS
  • Secure computer skills (especially Microsoft Office)
