Nexus News // Outcomes of the 3rd Executive Committee Meeting Nexus Dialogue Programme

The 3rd Executive Committee Meeting of the Nexus Dialogue Programme was held from the 05th to the 06th of June 2019 at GIZ premises in Bonn, Germany. The overall objective of the meeting was to analyze the results and lessons learnt of phase I (2016 – 2019) and to prepare for a successful implementation of phase II (2020 – 2022).

E-learning Course // Solar Powered Irrigation Systems

The GIZ Powering Agriculture Team has supported University Ostfalia to develop an e-learning course on Solar Powered Irrigation Systems. The course will be entirely online and look at sustainable water management, solar pumping essentials, planning and implementation, and operation and maintenance. E-tutors will support the students throughout the course.

WEF Nexus in Latin America // Innovative Communication Tools and Practices for fostering Multisectoral Cooperation and Learning

The GIZ- sponsored Environmental Management and Rural Development Network in Latin America and the Caribbean (GADER-ALC) organized a regional meeting on Digitalization from May 7th to May 9th. The 2019 Nexus Workstream - coordinated by Bolivia and Chile - was awarded EUR 5000 from an Innovation Fund to carry out knowledge cafés for a regional exchange on the WEF Nexus approach as well as for a regional Nexus Forum to be held in La Paz, Bolivia, in September this year.

Nexus Regional Dialogue Central Asia // Workshop Participants developed a draft Nexus Roadmap for Central Asia

15 participants from Central Asian ministries and interstate organizations took part in a training workshop organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as part of the Study Tour to the Danube and Sava River Commissions on 13-18 May with the financial support of the European Union. Conference // BLUE PLANET Berlin Water Dialogues – Inspired by Nature: Combining Natural and Engineered Systems in Water Management

On April 9, 2019, the project consortium AquaNES, funded by Horizon 2020, will present its innovations at the BLUE PLANET Berlin Water Dialogues Conference. There will be lectures, interactive workshops with the conference participants and project tables with the 13 AquaNES projects. Stefan Uhlenbrook from the United Nations World Water Assessment Programme (UNESCO WWAP) will be the keynote speaker. Corinne Trommsdorff from the IWA will be received as another speaker at the conference.
