Online Event // Conversations for Inspiration: The Water, Energy Food Nexus

The session "Leverage to achieve sustainable development" is part of a series of online events titled “Conversations for Inspiration” organized by México Actua, an NGO that brings together the academic, business, government and civil society to inform, raise awareness and take actions focused on the WEF Nexus as a solution for sustainable development in Mexico (held in Spanish).

These events have included specific conversations on food security, water, and energy security, and this final panel on Nexus brings the three together under the Nexus umbrella with a view towards achieving sustainable development.

On Friday the subject of the conversation will be the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the relationship of Nexus to the agenda and the SDGs, and the implementation of Nexus in Latin America.  The event will include presentations by the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), the office for the 2030 Agenda (President’s Office of Mexico), UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL), and GIZ.  Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session with participants and conclusions.

The event will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020, from 10.30 to 11.30am Mexico time, and may be accessed through the Mexico Actua web page,, or directly through the zoom platform link.

Conference // Week on Water for Development in August 2020

Every drop counts – but what is happening in the water sector in times of COVID-19? The Week on Water for Development (WW4D) is a virtual five-day conference from 24 to 28 August 2020, organised by the German development cooperation (GIZ), that connects relevant stakeholders around key topics on water from COVID-19 to climate change. WW4D is also part of SIWI’s Stockholm World Water Week at home 2020.

The Dutch pavilion in the World Expo, hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in 2020, will focus on the interconnection of water, energy and food. As the second-largest exporter of agricultural products in the world, the Netherlands wants to support collaboration as well as minimising the footprint of our interactive ecosystem by building the pavilion with local resources and locally rented building materials.
