DutchDubai // The Interconnection of Water, Energy and Food presented at the Dutch Pavilion at the Expo 2020 in Dubai, UAE

The Dutch pavilion in the World Expo, hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in 2020, will focus on the interconnection of water, energy and food. As the second-largest exporter of agricultural products in the world, the Netherlands wants to support collaboration as well as minimising the footprint of our interactive ecosystem by building the pavilion with local resources and locally rented building materials.

The World Expo will be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in 2020. The UAE selected the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", sub-themes being Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity.
The Dutch pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai will focus on the interconnection of water, energy and food. As the second-largest exporter of agricultural products in the world, the Netherlands wants to support collaboration as well as minimising the footprint of our interactive ecosystem by building the pavilion with local resources and locally rented building materials. The Durch pavilion, which is a circular climate installation offering an interactive experience, is a reflection of this kind of partnership.

The installations wants to point at the increasing fragility and scarcity of resources. Global issues such as water scarcity, food security and rising demand for energy have a particularly serious impact on the Middle East. Gulf countries tend to consume more water and energy per capita than many other parts of the world, and the majority of the region’s food is imported. Expo 2020 Dubai offers an exciting opportunity to drive positive change.
