INBO Webinar 1: Strengths and Weaknesses of Desalination as part of the Water mix for Integrated Water Resources Management

The 2026 INBO Webinar Series explores how unconventional water resources can be effectively integrated into the Water Mix within IWRM. This webinar focuses on desalination, its strengths and weaknesses as part of the water mix, and its environmental, economic and energy implications in coastal and water-stressed regions.

Webinar 1: Strengths and Weaknesses of Desalination as part of the Water mix for Integrated Water Resources Management

This webinar is the first session in the 2026 INBO Webinar Series. Organised by the International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO), the session will explore the role of desalination within Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), particularly in the context of increasing water stress and climate change.

IWRM provides a flexible and context-specific toolbox for managing water resources at basin level. In addition to surface water, groundwater and green water, the concept of the Water Mix integrates unconventional water resources such as desalinated seawater and treated wastewater reuse.
