Bonn2011 Nexus Process
The Bonn2011 Nexus Conference was based on a year-long preparatory process that helped to shape the agenda for the conference as well as the way water, energy and food security challenges can be tackled within a multi-sectoral multistakeholder conference.
Two committees consisting of internationally renowned experts from the water, energy, food and environment sectors (International Steering Committee, German Advisory Board) have provided valuable advise to the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference conveners in shaping the profile of the conference.
Furthermore, three strategic partners from different sectors and stakeholder groups joined the preparatory process facilitating the inclusion of different expert communities and ensuring a broad, but competent views on water, energy and food security challenges. In cooperation with the Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future, civil society representatives provided their views on conference topics in the preparatory process. Important aspects about regional challenges of water, energy and food security were collected by Global Water Partnership and were be presented and discussed during the conference.
Finally, so-called satellite discussions have been conducted at different conferences in the run-up to the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference helping to raise awareness on the importance of the nexus and informing the preparatory process of the conference.
