Managing the Nexus for Green Growth

Session Conveners
- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- World Economic Forum
Abstract
The world’s food, water and energy resources are experiencing significant stress. The highly interlinked nature of these resources presents a particular challenge because we need integrated approaches that are coordinated among diverse stakeholders, many of whom lack the incentives or institutional structures required for effective action. In this high-level session, policymakers and experts will discuss frameworks for managing the Water, Energy and Food Nexus in the push for sustainable economic growth. They will explore concrete cases of innovative management of the Nexus that have driven economic and social development. Policy recommendations to foster good practices will be further discussed along with the conditions that could enable a transformation in the way resources are managed. The session will also highlight the linkages between the Nexus and economic policies (such as trade, and the productivity of water uses) from a green growth perspective.
