A stakeholder workshop on the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus

Collecting inputs for the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference preparatory process

At the 64th Annual United Nations Department for Public Information (UN DPI)/NGO Conference, Sustainable Societies – Responsive Citizens, 3-5th September, a workshop will be held on the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus providing stakeholders with an opportunity to input into the preparatory process of the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference.

The workshop will take place on the first day of the conference, 3rd September, at 2:30-4:00pm, bringing stakeholders together to discuss the nexus perspective and integrated solutions for a Green Economy.

Speakers who will introduce and unpack the nexus perspective include Mr. Albert Butare, CEO of Fatracs Co Limited and former Minister of Energy and Water of the Republic of Rwanda, and Mr. Johan Kuylenstierna, Centre Director, Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

The workshop will be co-moderated by Thomas Stratenwerth, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and Franz Marré, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Taking place in Bonn at the Maritim Hotel, the event is open to stakeholders registered and accredited for the 64th Annual UN DPI/NGO conference (3rd-5th September). Following this event, a synthesis document will be made available to feed into the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference preparations. It will also be distributed amongst NGO networks.

Over 2100 stakeholders have registered for the 64th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference and the final agenda for the conference is available at the UN website.
