Bonn2011 Nexus Conference
Draft Policy Recommendations
Introduction
The Bonn2011 Nexus Conference was a pioneering effort to bring together a wide range of stakeholders to address the nexus of water, energy and food security. A huge demand for dialogue, exchange and mutual learning was apparent throughout the conference. Even though we are only at the beginning of our journey to fully understand and address the complexity of the nexus challenges, participants brought a wealth of ideas, proposals and practical suggestions into the conference.
The ideas provided in the public consultation before and generated during the conference are all contributing to the final policy recommendations paper which will be published soon on this website.
Chapter one and
chapter two briefly introduce the approach of the Bonn Conference and the necessity for moving towards a “nexus perspective” and present the three “action fields” of the nexus approach as a result of the preparatory process.
Chapter three presents the first part of the policy recommendations. It briefly introduces the five “Bonn opportunities for action” and a set of draft policy recommendations for each of them.
Chapter four sets out the type of actions that stakeholders can take to promote a more interlinked and coherent policy approach.
Chapter five briefly presents the envisaged “way to Rio+20” as well as the impact on other international processes.
