Spreading the word and feeding-back

As part of the preparatory process, the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference conveners initiated several
satellite discussions such as presentations in plenary sessions or the organisation of side-events and back-to-back meetings at conferences worldwide. The ideas and perspectives generated through these consultations have been important in informing the issues to be discussed at the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference and the formulation of its final recommendations, intended as a key conference outcome. On the other hand, satellite discussions provided the opportunity to increase awareness about the importance of the water, energy and food security nexus, thus helping to shape a common agenda together with important international processes such as Rio+20.

In summary, the Satellite Discussions have connected many various actors at different levels, raised awareness of how relevant the water, energy and food security nexus is to the Green Economy debate, informed the preparations for the Bonn2011 Conference and established a link to existing initiatives. They provided substantial input for the Bonn2011 Nexus Conference, and the Bonn2011 conveners are very grateful to their partners for helping to make the following Satellite Discussions possible.
